Packager (Tacoma, WA)

Pay: $18-20/hr 

Shift: Monday-Friday | 6am-2:30pm 

Frontier Door and Cabinet is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Packager. This role will be based at our manufacturing facility in Tacoma, WA, and will primarily focus on ensuring the quality of our cabinet products and efficiently packaging them for delivery to our valued clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect cabinets for damages and defects, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Use hand tools like drills, measuring tape, and screwdrivers to address issues.
  • Check for proper placement of banding, shelves, hardware, and other components.
  • Verify dimensions and edge quality of doors, drawers, and cabinets.
  • Test functionality of doors and drawers, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Remove part labels and add necessary bumpers and set screws.
  • Wrap cabinets efficiently using cardboard and wrapping materials.
  • Operate wrapping machines to ensure proper packaging.
  • Understand different processes for various product types and finishes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding any issues

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3-6 months related experience and/or training.
  • Previous experience with tools and/or industrial machines preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Attention to detail and ability to identify defects or damages.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as drills, measuring tape, and screwdrivers.
  • Ability to work on feet for the duration of the shift.
  • Motivated with excellent attendance record.
  • Flexibility to work overtime if required.
  • Strong commitment to workplace diversity and environmentally conscious practices.

  • Standing approximately 8-10 hours, 5 days a week, depending on business need, may be required to work 6 days/week depending on business need.
  • Fine motor abilities are needed to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities might be required by this job that include close vision, particularly reading that may be very fine print.  
  • Regular twisting, bending, squatting, pushing, pivoting, and moving or lifting 10-15 pounds.  
  • Employees will frequently lift and/or move 10-25 pounds while occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Conveyance systems and rollers are available to move pieces.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
  • Exposed to vibration from machines.
  • Noise level is loud and ear protection is available.
  • Employees may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace.
  • Sawdust is always present and eye protection is always required.

Safety Equipment:

Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required.  This will include safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor.
