Assistant Controller

Pay: $95,000-$110,000

The Assistant Controller is responsible for planning and coordinating Plant related budget and business planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practice. This individual takes the lead in assuring an adequate level of internal control. The Assistant Controller provides analysis and recommendations to help management make good operating decisions to reduce costs, improve profits, and return on investment to ensure the Company meets financial objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Analyze financial, operations, and sales results and partner with management team to address performance gaps and drive improvement.
– Responsible for month end closing process and ensure that all expenses and revenues for the period have been accurately recorded. Manage/prepare journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing.
– Ensures the location has adequate internal controls to address financial statement risk, fraud risk, and protection of company assets.
– Facilitate continuous improvement by participating in planning, evaluation and implementation of ideas that contribute to that process.
– Assist in the preparation of annual labor and operating budgets, forecasts, and capital requests.
– Monitor the plant’s performance against budget and analyze manufacturing variances to recommend appropriate actions to leaders.
– Establish procedures for periodic inventories of all company owned assets and ensure that records reflect all the assets at hand.
– Reconcile monthly material inventory and coordinate inventory cycle counts as well as physical inventories.
– Support company initiatives to reduce spending and monitor maintenance, supplies, and consumable spending.
– Oversight in cash application activities.
– Participate in special projects and initiatives inside and outside of the accounting team.
– Develop in depth knowledge of ERP system and provide training for staff.
– Work with your peers to identify and implement process improvements.
– Support audit requirements including internal, external and compliance audits.
– Prepare Texas Personal Property Tax returns.

Experience and Education

– Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing accounting experience including cost accounting, inventory, budgeting, and general accounting processes and procedures.
– Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
– 5+ years of management experience.
– 5+ years of experience effectively using ERP/accounting software systems.
– Strong Microsoft Office Skills, with a focus in using advanced Excel functions and queries.
– Strong understanding of local, state, and federal business reporting requirements.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

– Proven analytical, problem solving, and process improvement mindset.
– Detail oriented with the ability to understand the “big picture”.
– Can interpret complex financial data and develop analytical reports.
– Experience with ERP systems for general accounting and consolidation purposes.
– Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
– Ability to successfully manage many issues/projects simultaneously.
– Able to work productively and independently.
– Comfortable working under deadlines and prioritizing different deliverables.
– Demonstrated understanding and application of U.S. GAAP.
– Able to communicate effectively with ease through email and Microsoft Teams with corporate office in Washington state.
