Senior Project Manager (Tacoma, WA)

The Senior Project Manager is a senior management role in the organization working with sales staff and customers in charge of all aspects of the door, frame and hardware profitability. The main point of contact for projects for both internal and external customers. Managing new projects from initial contract through completion. Providing mentorship, guidance and development opportunities to grow team through close working relationships. Accountable as the subject expert, representing the company as an ambassador to project stakeholders, owners, including general contractors and architects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages projects of all sizes developing key deliverables and driving project success. Excels at taking on extreme challenges, navigating organizational dynamics, and forecasting and dismantling roadblocks to success. Counted on to manage challenging clients and does so through a positive approach, consistent encouragement, and a focus on helping others.
  • Provide project management and change management support. Facilitate communication, address mid-level and executive questions and concerns, and maintain deadlines and compliance with system change management policies and procedures.
  • Serve as direct client liaison, advocate, and escalation point.
  • Identifying scopes, timing, and budget for potential projects while maintaining schedules, communicating process and status on existing ones, and positioning the work for success through client relationships.
  • Anticipate problems and opportunities before they arise. Create solutions to any challenges the team might encounter.
  • Ensure accurate internal reporting of project status, shifts in schedule and budget, and project-related expenses, to ensure up-to-date and accurate executive decision making.
  • Driver of culture and inclusivity within the team and production partners.
  • Communicate project revenue changes, account status, and potential new project opportunities to executive team.
  • Lead teams to identify project scopes, project plans, and author or approve the related States of Work (SOWs).
  • Lead teams to deliver projects on strategy, on time, and within budget.
  • Performance Reviews, documenting progress, one-on-ones
  • Communicate project schedule and ongoing status with the Executive Leadership group, Installation subcontractors and the accounting department. Review the project schedule and sequencing early on in the project detailing process so that installation sequencing and schedule timelines for completing the installation can be achieved.  
  • Schedule and manage pre-construction meetings with associated installation company. Review submitted/approved material types, project scheduling and sequencing. 
  • Maintain full grasp on product lead times. Communicate these lead times to the customer along with what may be required from the customer regarding submittal approvals prior to placing the orders. 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication and responsiveness. 
  • Ensure vendor satisfaction by communicating with vendors proactively, clearly, and often. 
  • Ensure products are furnished to job site on time and complete. 
  • Communicate project changes, modified submittals, current set of drawing and construction documents are furnished in a proactive and clear manner. 
  • Provides all information/documentation necessary for the Shipping team to make consolidated and non-rushed shipments to the jobsite.  Clearly detail stocking instructions and associated site drawings to ensure materials are delivered/stocked to the correct location the first time. 
  • Provide accurate and timely information for the monthly billing and projection process. 
  • Provide cost to complete information associated with their projects for accounting department monthly.  
  • Responsible for communicating clearly with the customer and the accounting department, regularly, detailing outstanding Request for Change orders (RFCO, and processed, unprocessed Change Orders. Follow up with the customer to ensure the company is paid for added work. 
  • Completing preliminary work and submittals. RFI’s, ASI’s, pricing changes, options. 
  • Managing and triaging for Project Manager’s and Buyer’s as needed
  • Contact review and negotiations with customers
  • Create and monitor tracking of team’s KPI’s
  • Plan and develop future growth, by assisting in recruitment, ensuring team has necessary resources
  • Manage and oversee creation of training processes
  • Negotiate legal issues that arise with customers
  • Design and implement company goals and initiatives from executive team
  • Audit contracts and negotiate with customers

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management or related field
  • Experience may be substituted for academic knowledge with a minimum of 2-4 years proven work experience in Project or Construction Management

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to read construction plans and specifications
  • Comfortable going out to job sites, unaccompanied
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel via automobile, train or airplane
  • Read tape measure, basic math, including fractions 

Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled, creative, and confident presenter and negotiator.
  • Computer literacy- Excel (intermediate user experience), Word, email and internet required 
  • Agility, Blue-Beam and Emullion or other door and frame industry specific software 
  • Build a full submittal package, creating door frame and hardware schedules 
  • Knowledge of Project Management software and other Microsoft Office tools to track, monitor, and report job site progress, coordination, spend, job site activities, and other tasks as needed 
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and architectural plans 
  • Ability to understand read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment 
  • Task and detail oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities 
  • Collaborates and influences appropriately 
  • Excellent written and professional verbal communication skills 
  • A sense of urgency and a passion for customer and company satisfaction
