Machine Operator - Door Shop (Tacoma, WA)

Pay: $19 – $24 Per Hour 

We are seeking an experienced Door Shop Team Member to join our fast-paced Tacoma facility. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and knowledgeable in various types of doors, jamb components, machining processes, hanging, and assembly. Experience with a Norfield Magnum, jamb preparation, and adherence to machining tolerances is essential.

key responsibilities

  • Accurately identify and handle different door types, materials, and jamb components.
  • Operate Norfield Magnum machinery safely and efficiently to produce high-quality machined doors within specified tolerances.
  • Prepare, machine, assemble, and hang doors and jambs to meet precise specifications and standards.
  • Adhere strictly to established machining tolerances to ensure product integrity and compliance.
  • Perform quality control inspections on all work to ensure products meet customer and company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain workflow efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in door production, hanging, assembly, or a similar millwork environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating Norfield Magnum or comparable door machining equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of door types, jamb components, machining techniques, and assembly practices.
  • Familiarity with precise machining tolerances and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production setting, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Previous experience with tools and/or industrial machines preferred.

  • Familiarity with other door machining and production equipment.
  • Experience in inventory management and material handling.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.

  • Standing approximately 8-10 hours per day, 5 days a week, with the possibility of working 6 days a week based on business needs.
  • Fine motor abilities required to handle objects, tools, and controls.
  • Specific vision abilities, including close vision for reading fine print.
  • Regular bending, squatting, pushing, and lifting objects weighing up to 80 pounds on and off the machine, which can occur up to 100 times per shift.
  • Use of conveyance systems and rollers to move pieces efficiently.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment and vibration from machinery.

Safety Equipment

 Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required. This will include safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor.
