Machine Operator - Detail (Tacoma, WA)

Pay: $20-24/hr

Shift: M-F | 5am-1:30pm

Join the innovative team at Frontier Door and Cabinet as a Machine Operator, specializing in cabinet, door, and specialty manufacturing for multi-family residential, single-family residential, and commercial projects. When Machine Operating at our manufacturing facility in Tacoma, WA, you’ll play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that cabinet or door components meet the highest standards of quality and precision. This position entails working on a day shift schedule to meet production demands effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Feed raw materials through machines and stack finished products using rollers, ensuring proper alignment and quality.
  • Follow instructions from experienced team members to operate machinery, handle materials and tools, and load and unload items from assembly lines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in manufacturing areas to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, staple guns, and glue guns throughout the workday to assemble and finish products.
  • Set out and put away tools to maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
  • Tag parts with identifying information and record essential manufacturing data such as gauge readings, products produced, and manufacturing times.
  • Assist with quality control by identifying and reporting defective products or equipment malfunctions to higher-level employees, and if necessary, participate in corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety requirements and protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall production process.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Previous experience with tools and/or industrial machines is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and the ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Demonstrated situational awareness in detecting any deviations in the functioning of the machinery.
  • Ability to understand, read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Commitment to prioritizing safety at all times while working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to stand throughout the shift and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Lifting up to 50-70 lbs. may be required.
  • Use of hands to operate machines and tools, as well as to handle and stack materials.

  • This role is based at our manufacturing facility in El Paso, TX. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on meeting production demands while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. As a swing shift position, flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate production needs.

Safety Equipment:

Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required.  This will include safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor.
