Safety Assistant

Frontier Door and Cabinet is the premier provider of interior and exterior doors and millwork and high-quality cabinets for the commercial construction industry. The company is experiencing tremendous growth and is looking for a results-oriented Safety Coordinator.

The Safety Assistant reports to the Safety Manager.  This position performs the day-to-day functions of the Safety department in support of the Human Resources Department. This position must protect company proprietary information and maintain discretion for confidential employee information. The Safety Coordinator is a highly visible position and requires an organized, high-energy individual capable of operating in a fast-moving department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

-Monitor employees and facility for compliance with Federal, State and Company safety policy and regulations
-Investigate accidents and submit detailed reports with root cause analysis
-Assist safety manager in maintaining records of incident reports, hazard analysis, training, and other compliance requirements 
-Support the Human Resources Department in special projects and events, training, or employee interactions 
-Assist Safety Manager with PPE assessments, hazardous waste management, workers compensation claims, and other mandatory reporting requirements
-Provides honest, regulation-based feedback to supervisors and managers 

Temporary Workers

-Coordinate orders from supervisors and managers for temporary worker requests 
-Maintain strong working relationships with staffing agency account managers 
-Tracks payroll hours for all temps daily in Temp Tracker 
-Ensure all training and safety orientations are transmitted to staffing agencies  

Safety Inspections

-Conducts twice daily walk-throughs on facility floor and records safety violations 
-Restocks all First Aid cabinets, Earplug dispensers, and safety glass wipes.
-Verifies Emergency Exits are clear, emergency aid bags are secure, and fire extinguishers in good working order.

Training

-Performs New Employee Safety Training and Orientation 
-Assist in equipment, forklift, and fall protection training until trainer qualified 
-Develops and presents training classes for Safety Committee and Supervisors
-Coordinates with vendors to provide peripheral training needs   

Documentation

-Assists in maintaining all written procedures for new equipment 
-Performs PPE assessments and new equipment training and hazard analysis.
-Maintains and updates LOTO, Job hazard analysis, and PPE assessments 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

-Must be knowledgeable of WA DOSH, WAC 296, and OSHA 29 CFR regulations
-Familiar with emergency management procedures  
-Knowledge of clean air, storm water pollution and fire codes desirable 

REQUIREMENTS

-High School Diploma or GED.  College education is a plus. 
-At least 1 year of safety experience in manufacturing
-OSHA 30 or similar certification
-PIT, First Aid/CPR/AED, CERT, GHS qualifications strongly desired

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

-Use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, particularly reading that may be exceptionally fine print
-May occasionally lift and/or move > 50 lbs. 
-Walking the manufacturing floor 
-Sitting 3-5 hours/day.  Option to stand while working

REQUIREMENTS

-High School Diploma or GED.  College education is a plus.

-PIT, First Aid/CPR/AED, CERT, GHS qualifications strongly desired
