Assistant Estimator (Tacoma, WA)

Pay: $20-25/hr 

Schedule: M-F | 8am-4:30pm 

As an Assistant Estimator at Frontier Door and Cabinet, Inc., you’ll play a crucial role in our residential cabinetry division. You’ll be responsible for managing bid invites, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected for accurate bids, and updating bid portals with project status. With your organizational skills, you’ll oversee bid tracking software and schedule tasks for our estimators. Additionally, you’ll assist with sample creation, shipping, and customer follow-up calls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate new bid requests and determine viability, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
  • Download and organize pertinent documents, maintaining meticulous file management across multiple platforms.
  • Schedule and oversee tasks for our estimating team, tracking progress and reporting on project status.
  • Engage in customer follow-up calls, providing updates and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
  • Collaborate with our sales team and division leads to develop comprehensive project proposals.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to identify solutions and approaches to estimating issues.
  • Represent Frontier Door and Cabinet with integrity and professionalism at all times, escalating questions or issues as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting architectural blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in Estimating software preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of construction, cabinetry, and doors considered a bonus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and email, with knowledge of Blue-Beam, AutoCAD, and CRM software desired.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a commitment to customer and company satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

This role operates primarily in a professional office environment within Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Tacoma, WA facilities.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required.  This will include safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor.  

Given the office-based nature of this position, specific safety equipment requirements are minimal. However, standard office safety protocols and ergonomic practices should be followed to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment.
