Financial Controller

$125,000.00-$140,000.00 per year

The Financial Controller is a focal point of the Accounting department, supporting the CFO in directing the financial activities of the Company while overseeing the day to day accounting functions. The Financial Controller provides analysis and recommendations to help management make good operating decisions to reduce costs, improve profits, and return on investment to ensure the Company meets financial objectives.

Essential Tasks

-Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet ongoing business needs or additional duties may be assigned per employee’s growth and development.
-Ensure consistency and process improvement in Accounting processes and procedures.
-Supervise, mentor, and guide growth of Accounting team members.
-Responsible for fostering effective employee relations.
-Responsible for performing month-end close procedures and preparing monthly financial results, including key metrics and data analysis for CFO and CEO as requested.
-Ensure integrity of financial information and analysis.
-Prepares periodic financial reports to share with key members of departments to ensure efficient financial objectives are met.
-Performs balance sheet reconciliations.
-Reviews weekly and biweekly payroll to ensure applicable payroll controls are in place.
-Ensure Accounting procedures are followed and in accordance with reporting requirements for internal and external parties.
-Maintain the company bank balance and reconcile all bank statements.
-Approve AP disbursements that need to be paid.
-Read and review any documentation attached to checks for approval and accuracy.
-Maintain adequate cash balance on LOC and timing of paying invoices.
-Update weekly cash forecast and project next 6 weeks cash flow.

Management

-Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
-Directly supervise and mentor all Accounting staff.
-Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
-Support the CFO in creating accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.

Transactions

-Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
-Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
-Ensure that accounts receivables are collected in a timely manner.
-Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
-Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
-Maintain the chart of accounts.
-Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
-Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.

Reporting

-Issue timely and complete financial statements.
-Calculate and issue financial reports.
-Prepare analysis as related to the review of the annual budget and forecasts.
-Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
-Provide for a system of management cost reports.
-Provide financial analyses as needed or requested.

Compliance

-Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for all audits.
-Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Experience

-Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing accounting experience including inventory, budgeting, and general accounting processes and procedures.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
-3+ years of management experience.
-Sense of urgency and a passion for customer and company satisfaction.
-Professional communication and demeanor at all times.
-Honesty and integrity, exercise good judgment.
-Strong attendance.
-Strong Microsoft Office Skills, with a focus in Excel and knowledge of Accounting systems.
-Strong understanding of local, state, and federal business reporting requirements and tax filings.

Sitting approximately 6-8 hours per day. Two hours of standing or walking including stairs. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, particularly reading that may be very fine print.

Safety Equipment

All established safety rules must be followed and equipment used where required. This will include safety glasses and hearing protection when walking on the production floor.
