Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for process improvement within the Engineering department that aligns development of team of Engineers and Microvellum Engineers, but also improves the operational performance of complex Engineering processes that will help to improve internal technical processes and help to scale the growth of the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet ongoing business needs or additional duties may be assigned per employee’s growth and development. 

-Assign engineering resources to projects consistent with each project’s scope, complexity and key schedule dates.
-Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be used from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
-Own Engineering’s role and responsibilities in the Company’s Customer Fulfillment Process and represent Engineering throughout this fulfillment process.
-Create and maintain a long-term Engineering schedule to include managing the submittal schedule and MTO and release process.
-Manage performance expectations within the Engineering department.
-Monitor the Engineering team’s performance, quality, and progress on all projects and provide support to each Engineer in problem solving.
-Manage engineering hours to Estimating budget.
-Promptly identify, quantify, and resolve issues that compromise Engineering’s ability to completely and correctly engineer products in a timely manner.
-Train and develop the Engineering staff on tools and procedures needed by them to perform their jobs successfully.
-Collaborate with other departments to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded, including ensuring technical assistance to the Project Management team.
-Monitor, measure, and maintain drafting standards and output of department and be a motivator for continuous improvements in quality and quantity.
-Ensure that project scope and customer specifications are represented accurately in the Company’s shop drawings.

Compliance

Ensure compliance and AWI Certification, WSSP, LEED, FSC Certification.

Reporting

-Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences to inform management of current status of each project.
-Working with the manufacturing, operations and quality manager, reviews and monitors quality and process improvements and new product development.

-Incorporate Strategic Goal that is in alignment with Company Mission/Vision.
-One goal should be centered in Process Improvement.
-Improve and increase throughput of Microvellum Engineers and Engineering roles (number of projects completed per person/week) to scale with needs of Operations.
-Cycle Time – total time required to create plans to manufacture a product. (Goal is to improve cycle time of drawings to shop)
-On time delivery of plans to shop

-Desk is provided, but standing/walking approximately 5-8 hours/day, 5 days a week. May be required to work 6 days/week depending on business need.
